Chesterman and Sons are a family run team of art restorers based in South London.
Established in the 1980s as Chesterman Fine Art by husband and wife team David and Victoria Chesterman then becoming Chesterman & Sons Ltd. when Dominic and Raphael took on their current premises. Between them the company has over a hundred years experience in the conservation, care, and restoration of old master and contemporary works of art.
In the last 20 years the company has worked on many high profile works and projects for the world’s top art dealers, auction houses and private estates.
We pride ourselves on the care and attention to detail every work receives. We offer a comprehensive service undertaking all stages of a painting’s restoration in our studio.
After years of in house development we have a very broad range of techniques we can offer to tailor a solution to each individual work. Processes and materials are regularly reviewed and updated to keep them in step with modern conservation techniques.
We operate a generous studio space close to Clapham in South London, including a dedicated retouching and varnishing studio, a large conservation and relining workshop, a woodshop and photo and reproduction studio.
We are able to accommodate very large works.
We are able to take on bonded works from the U.K. and Overseas.
